His starting point was creating a continuous band surrounding the whole
site with open, semi-open and enclosed spaces. Within this spatial
fluidity, Foolady has proposed an activity focus facing the citadel and
a semi-open walking path along the marina. Open vistas between the
enclosed units allow the sea penetrating inside the green area. Yet the
reason behind placing one restaurant across the castle as an individual
building is still open to questions. His good presentation skills, on the
other hand, contribute to his success.

Instead of separating required functions throughout the site, Gündüz
designed a tight promenade embracing the local harbor and then leading
to the yacht marina. Her project positively responds to the local historical
context by focusing on the inlet in front of the citadel. The linearity of the
main scheme helps her establishing a compact unit-whole relationship
respectful to the spatial requirements of each activity within the program.
Even though her over-use of timber needs to be reconsidered, her
articulating the green area is successful.

The grouping of functions on the site and the way they relate to each
other provide discernability to the overall organization of the project.
Orientation of the design towards the old marina and the way the project
evolved together with the citadel show that the local values of the site
were not only well analyzed but also evaluated as valuable input in the
design process. Different spaces created by leveling of the ground
stipulated a rhythmic coherence to the topography and this coherence
was strengthen with different uses created in the sections of the land and
the sea along the promenade, surrounding the coastline.

Having inspired from the current sun and wind circulation directions,
which constitute the major characteristics of the Sigacik coast, the
project defines the promenade successfully through the articulation of
public and private spaces. The sensible distribution of functions and
the spatial arrangements achieved in reference to the scale of the site,
lead the whole relations defined within the promenade to be perceived
in third dimension. Added to these the variety achieved in the way the
water meets the land along the promenade enriches the approach of the
overall design..

Köses work is successful in terms of the articulation of the coastal zone,
the activities around it, as well as the open areas defined in-between
the volumes. The existing green area is shaped with references form the
historical settlement and public areas are defined within this green spot.
Besides, various relations of the activities at the coastal line with the sea
and the public areas of different sizes and qualities created through the
promenade are the other positive aspects of this work.

Tekin articulates the coastal zone with references to the existing tissue of
the historical settlement and organizes the zone in line with the activities
along it at different scales and heights. Defining the promenade with closed
or open parts of the activity units, Tekin creates a rhythmic experience
along the promenade. The existing green area is also re-shaped with the
references from the historical settlement and the entrances to this area
are decided according to these reference points.
